Using Optical Tweezers for the Characterization of Polyelectrolyte Solutions with Very Low Viscoelasticity

چکیده
Recently, optical tweezing has been used to provide a method for microrheology addressed to measure the rheological properties of small volumes of samples. In this work, we corroborate this emerging field of microrheology by using these optical methods for the characterization of polyelectrolyte solutions with very low viscoelasticity. The influence of polyelectrolyte (i.e., polyacrylamide, PAM) concentration, specifically its aging, of the salt concentration is shown. The close agreement of the technique with classical bulk rheological measurements is demonstrated, illustrating the advantages of the technique.

Probing Telopeptide-Induced Collagen-Collagen Interactions Using Optical-Tweezers-Based Microrheology
The local viscoelasticity was compared between full-length and telopeptide-removed collagen solutions using optical-tweezers-based microrheology. An enhanced modulus at higher concentrations in full-length collagen solutions suggests contributions from telopeptide-associated transient crosslinks. متن کاملFabrication and Characterization of Chitosan/Alginate Multilayer Composite Membrane Supported by a Porous Poly (Acrylonitrile) Substrate for Pervaporation Dehydration of Alcohol
Chitosan (CS) and alginate (Alg) are complementary in their membrane performance, but the combination of them is normally difcult to use due to their different solubilities. Layer-by-Layer deposition appears to be an effective method for improving the separation efciency of a composite membrane. In this work, the polyelectrolyte multilayer composite membranes (PEMCMs) wer...
متن کاملLow Temperature Hydrothermal Synthesis and Characterization and Optical Properties of Sr5Nb4O15 – Nb2O5 Nanocomposite
Sr5Nb4O15 – Nb2O5 nanocomposites were synthesized in 2 and 4 M KOH aqueous solutions, via a non-stoichiometric 1:2 Sr:Nb molar ratio hydrothermal method at 160°C for 48 h (S1 and S2, respectively). Sr(NO3)2 and Nb2O5 were used as raw materials. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized by powder X-Ray diffraction (PXRD) technique. It was found that Sr5Nb4O15 has been crystallized in hexa...
متن کاملAn Enhanced Finite Element method for Two Dimensional Linear Viscoelasticity using Complex Fourier Elements
In this paper, the finite element analysis of two-dimensional linear viscoelastic problems is performed using quadrilateral complex Fourier elements and, the results are compared with those obtained by quadrilateral classic Lagrange elements. Complex Fourier shape functions contain a shape parameter which is a constant unknown parameter adopted to enhance approximation’s accuracy. Since the iso...
